Hood Warfare 0.4.0 is out — play free in your browser, plus a big Android update
Hood Warfare 0.4.0 launches a free browser version at hoodwarfare.net/play and a new Android build with two new modes, six new maps, smarter bots, better hit feedback and a cosmetics store.
Press release — November 4, 2026. Hood Warfare, the 4v4 hood turf-war shooter by ToddMichaelTV, is out in version 0.4.0 in two places at once: a free browser version at hoodwarfare.net/play and a new Android build on the download page.
Play in your browser, no install
Open hoodwarfare.net/play on a laptop or desktop and you are on the block. The browser version runs practice matches against bots in all three modes — Turf War, Free For All and Team Deathmatch — with the same maps, guns and call-ins as the phone game.
- Works in a current desktop browser with WebGL 2 (we test in Chrome and Edge).
- Uses a lighter graphics profile built for ordinary laptops: far-away props and lights fade out, so a busy fight stays smooth on built-in graphics.
- The first visit downloads the game (a few hundred megabytes); after that it loads from your browser's cache.
- Online matches and accounts are on Android for now. On a phone, the Android app is the better way to play.
What's new in the Android build
0.4.0 is the biggest update since the beta. Highlights:
- Two new modes: Free For All (first to 20 kills) and Team Deathmatch (first crew to 40 kills), alongside Turf War.
- Six new maps alongside The Block: The Projects, The Docks, The Strip, The Yard, The Rooftops and Dead Mall, with rooftops, bridges, container stacks and enterable shops to flank through.
- Smarter bots: they flank dug-in players, fall back to cover when hurt, reload behind cover and actually defend the zones they hold.
- Hits you can feel: confirmed-hit markers, a small camera kick on hits, floating damage numbers and optional haptics (toggle it in Settings).
- A cleaner first match: a three-step practice setup (mode, map, start), a compact step-by-step guide that matches the mode you picked, and a tidier home menu with bigger touch targets.
- Cosmetics store and locker: weapon skins with real materials, outfits, kill-feed emotes and crew tags, previewed in 3D. Cosmetics never change weapon stats.
- Your voice in the game: a Feedback screen for suggestions and bug reports, an "Update available" notice and a "What's new" screen after every update.
- Cooler phones: frame rate capped at 60, automatic quality steps when the phone struggles, and overheating protection.
- Crews, public profiles, a community feed and a rebuilt narrator with new lines, sound effects and music.
In our test on a Samsung Galaxy Note20, a Turf War match ran at the 60 fps cap.
The full list of changes is in the changelog.
How to get it
- Browser: hoodwarfare.net/play — free, nothing to install.
- Android: download the 0.4.0 APK from hoodwarfare.net. If you already have the beta, install it over the top: it updates in place and keeps your progress. The download page lists the version and SHA-256 so you can check the file.
Only install Hood Warfare from hoodwarfare.net. We never send the APK through DMs or third-party mirrors.
